The Science

More than just some ‘pop psychology’ approach, The Happiness Trap is based on an empirically-supported model known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

ACT is a unique and creative model for coaching and therapy that is based on the innovative use of mindfulness and values. Over a 35 year period, evidence has mounted for ACT’s effectiveness in treating conditions including anxiety, chronic pain, depression, stress, smoking, weight loss and performance enhancement.

As of May 2019, researchers around the world have conducted over 300 RCTs (Randomized Controlled Trials) and published over 2,000 research papers supporting the efficacy of ACT in alleviating suffering and promoting human flourishing. The Happiness Trap program teaches highly-effective strategies and interventions based on the ACT model.
